About NYC Repipe & Repair

NYC Repipe & Repair is a New York City plumbing company that finds and fixes water leaks, repairs damaged supply pipe and, when the pipe itself has failed, replaces it with copper. It works in New York City: Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island, from a shop at 286 Hamilton Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11231.

What the company does

Most calls start with a symptom: water through a ceiling, brown water in the morning, a top-floor shower that won't hold pressure. The first job is to find out which problem it is. Lines are isolated and pressure-tested before any wall is opened, so a single failed joint gets a repair price and a failed system gets a repipe price, not the other way round.

The standards it works to

  • Water distribution in Type L copper (ASTM B88), the material listed in Table 605.4 of the 2022 NYC Plumbing Code. Why not PEX?
  • Lead-free brass and fittings to NSF/ANSI 372, and ASSE 1079 dielectric transitions where copper meets old steel.
  • Permitted work filed in DOB NOW: Build by, or under, a NYC Licensed Master Plumber, then pressure-tested and signed off.
  • No removable push-fit fittings and no pipe lining, both prohibited by the NYC code for this work.

How pricing works

Published NYC price ranges, each with its source, are on every service page and in the Price Report. Your price is written and itemized after a free on-site visit, including the DOB permit and the wall-opening plan, before anything is booked. The repipe cost estimator gives a planning range without a call.

The permit trail

What a legal NYC repipe leaves on the record

Every permitted repipe produces the same paper trail at the Department of Buildings. It's what a buyer's attorney, a co-op board or a lender will look for later.

  1. DOB NOW: Build Filed

    Limited Alteration Application

Filed by the Licensed Master Plumber, with the scope and the job cost.

  2. DOB Issued

    Work permit

Issued in real time for most repipes, and posted at the job.

  3. On site Installed

    Type L copper in

Run alongside the old pipe and switched over section by section.

  4. Plumbing Code §108 Tested

    Pressure test

The whole new system holds under test before walls close.

  5. DOB Signed off

    Inspection and sign-off

The job closes cleanly on the building's DOB record.
